    Adult Actor's Workshop

    Wednesdays - 6 pm - 9 pm

    Starts April 25

    Location: College Drive Presbyterian Church
2 West High Street, New Concord

Actor, director Gilbert Mazaher is offering an Actor's Workshop for people 12 years and older who are interested in learning and developing the acting tools you will all explore together. The workshop is structured so that you can come in and out week to week instead of feeling obligated to attend each week. You may miss a particular week's workshop and be able to come back the following week without feeling you have missed something. We cover and work on multiple concepts and acting tools each week making sure to cover them over and over as the weeks go on. There is no set 'order' that these concepts and skills need to learned.

For that reason, the payment of $10 is collected from each student at each workshop, so it's a weekly fee if someone attended every week.

The program will consist of warm ups, performance exercises, script analysis, movement, voice, emotion, interaction, ensemble, and various techniques focusing on acting for the stage. The workshop subject content is chosen to provide rich emotional content and contentious situations. This is not light theater. To encourage growth, actors will explore and discover the limits of ability, then push through and beyond those limits. The content and characters in the workshop material are rich and deep with conflict, emotion, ambiguity, moral uncertainty and many other rich ‘human’ situations to give an actor much to dig deep within to capture. The workshops will be conducted as continuations from one workshop to another, yet unique enough to welcome newcomers at anytime in the workshop. The content and learning of the workshops will be repeated often to encourage retention in the acting concepts presented and developed.

Workshop material shall be selected from the following sources: Selected dramatic improvisation themes and situations, student’s preferences or recommendations, selected plays of Tennessee Williams - Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, A Streetcar Named Desire, etc.,Our Town by Thornton Wilder, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee adapted for stage by Christopher Sergel and many more.
